7 Years of Cybersecurity Awareness Month: What’s Ahead in 2025

We are back and thrilled to kick off our 7th Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign.

As we step into this year’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we’re excited to return and share what’s ahead. This will be our seventh year of leading conversations on security, CISO leadership, and consciously secure living.

Every year we shift something in our approach. One change this year → we won’t be posting every single day.

Instead, we’re creating more space for reflection and depth between posts, giving each insight the breathing room it deserves.

Our topics this year will be more equally dispersed and will include:

  • 🔒 The evolving CISO role in today’s regulatory and threat landscape

  • 🌿 Holistic security for entrepreneurs — building with freedom, resilience, and intentional systems

  • 🤝 Holistic security for nonprofits — protecting mission-driven work and the communities they serve

Why This Matters More Than Ever

Cybersecurity isn’t just a compliance checkbox — it’s the foundation of trust, freedom, and resilience in how we live and lead. Here are some important realities shaping the landscape today:

For Entrepreneurs

  • 43% of cyberattacks target small businesses, yet only 14% are prepared to defend themselves.

  • A single data breach can cost an average of $200,000 — often enough to put a young company out of business.

  • Cybersecurity is no longer optional; it’s a strategic growth enabler. Secure businesses close more deals, attract better partnerships, and inspire customer confidence.

For Nonprofits

  • Nonprofits are increasingly targeted because they store sensitive donor, volunteer, and community data but often lack advanced protections.

  • A nonprofit breach not only impacts data but can erode trust with the very communities they are fighting to protect.

  • Donors and partners are starting to expect evidence of strong security practices before funding.

For CISOs in Regulated Industries

  • CISOs are under more pressure than ever as regulators (SEC, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, etc.) tighten enforcement.

  • The SEC has introduced new disclosure rules requiring companies to report material cyber incidents within 4 business days.

  • Third-party and supply chain risks remain top of mind, with attacks like SolarWinds and MOVEit reminding us that compliance without resilience isn’t enough.

  • The modern CISO role is shifting from “technical defender” to strategic business leader who balances risk, compliance, and business growth.

The Consciously Secure Approach

We believe that inner freedom creates outer freedom. When leaders and organizations feel safe at the core — digitally, physically, emotionally, and operationally — they make better decisions, cultivate stronger relationships, and expand their impact.

This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we’ll dive into:

  • How entrepreneurs can future-proof their businesses with holistic security from day one.

  • How nonprofits can safeguard their missions while staying people-centered.

  • How CISOs can lead with vision and resilience in regulated, high-pressure environments.
